Celebrate Fathers Day

Celebrate Father’s Day ...

Sunday 2nd September 2012 ... with these inspirational tips!

From Nelson Mandella to Martin Luther King Junior, people have the ability to inspire and transform others. But few people have more impact on our lives than our parents.inspirationallesson pbackSml
Parenting may not come with a handbook, but being a good role model is essential. Sometimes we harbour beliefs which hold us back.

The e-book Inspirational Lessons from Inspirational People provides daily affirmations and motivations, gleaning inspiration from some of the most incredible people in history to help you reach your true potential. You can also share these lessons with your kids and give them aspirational guidance for overcoming obstacles and reaching their dreams!

Here are a few of our favourite tips for being a great dad.

  • Be patient. Children can have boundless energy – physically, mentally and socially – challenging you to keep up. They can test your patience at times, but it is important to remain calm, even if that means walking away for a moment or taking 10 deep breaths.
  • Get involved. Set aside time every day to spend with your children. Read to them, play games with them and make sure you’re present for those big moments – a rugby game, a music recital, the school play.
  • Love unconditionally. There is no substitute for love. Show your children unconditional love and create a stable, nurturing environment for them to grow up in. Listen to them and provide non-judgemental support when they need it.
  • Laugh. Having a sense of humour can be a great way to get through those moments where you could either laugh or cry, like when your little one has just written all over the walls in crayon!
  • Set guidelines. Making sure your children know where they stand by setting clear guidelines and boundaries is essential.

Being a father can be particularly challenging. But thanks to the e -book 52 Things Kids Need from a Dad: What Fathers Can Do to Make a Lifelong Difference  you can learn key tips on how to give your kids exactly what they need. Written by Jay Payleitner, a father of five, who has faced many struggles with fatherhood, this book provides an excellent tool for empowering fathers to be the best they can with activities to build lifelong positives into their kids.
